About Us

A Legacy of Craftsmanship

As a certified State of Florida General Contractor founded in 1998, Jimerico Construction was originally known for its distinctive interior finish work, characterized by custom cabinetry and imaginative use of high end materials. Poised for success, the company became a leader in the fast-growing Florida construction industry when contracted for several Panera Bread® interiors and Staples tenant improvements, completing a series of projects in multiple locations. Other nationally prominent clients followed, signing contracts both within Florida and throughout the United States.

Our History

Jimerico Construction’s impressive portfolio spans residential, multifamily, commercial, offices, healthcare, medical, hospitality, financial, entertainment and retail properties. The company’s roots trace back to the early 1990s, when company partners, James O’Brien and Derrick Caglianone, began collaborating as subcontractors on multiple projects. Discovering they were entrepreneurial by nature and equally passionate concerning craftsmanship, Jimerico Construction was born. Open communication, honesty and respect for the quality of every project set the stage for success.

Trusted By Florida’s Leading Developers

Soon after the company started landing big-name clients, Jimerico Construction began developing and managing its own properties, in addition to entering into joint ventures with real estate developers to build resorts and commercial properties. Landmark joint ventures include Mariners Club Key Largo and Mariners Club Bahia Beach, both in Florida; Cay Club resorts in Clearwater, Florida and Las Vegas, Nevada; and the District entertainment center in Oviedo, Florida. Jim O'Brien

Vice-President & Co-Owner

At the core of any successful professional is usually a strong, focused individual who does whatever necessary to help clients attain their goals. As vice-president of Jimerico Construction, James O’Brien is no exception.

With his passion for building and energetic spirit, Jim makes the development and construction of every project a richly rewarding and positive experience. Whether managing or constructing a project, his extensive knowledge and attention to detail are genuine assets to his clients. By keeping owners and developers informed every step along the way, he not only ensures their ability to make sound decisions but has cemented a reputation for integrity. As a result, his services are greatly in demand.

Jim began his career in 1979 working as a carpenter. He rapidly advanced to the management level before founding his own subcontracting firm and later Jimerico with partner Derrick Caglianone. Jim holds a Florida Certified General Contractors license and is a member of the Association of General Contractors and the Lake Homebuilders Association. He resides in Lake County Florida with his wife.

A strong work ethic, entrepreneurial nature and commitment to customer service are the foundation of Derrick Caglianone’s success within the construction industry. He began his career at a young age installing floor covering. In the years since then, Derrick has gone on to learn every facet of the construction business from the ground up, first serving as a laborer and later becoming a subcontractor. Along the way, he gained a reputation for straightforwardness, meticulous craftsmanship and skillful negotiation.

In 1997, at the urging of business associates, he put this hands-on practical education to work on a larger scale, founding Jimerico Construction with his business partner, James O’Brien.

Derrick and his wife live in Broward County, Florida. He founded The Pamela Caglianone Foundation in her honor after she was diagnosed with and successfully treated for lymphoma in 2005. This non-profit organization is dedicated to supporting children and families affected by cancer.
